The Rules
Here are the rules relating to this competition.
Development Specific Rules
- Games must be created with DarkBASIC Professional and Dark Physics.
- Games can be a maximum size of 50MB in their zipped/compressed state.
- Games must not include an 'installer' of any kind.
- Games must be playable with a standard PC keyboard and mouse set-up.
- Games should be submitted archived in the .ZIP format.
- Games must include a text file called 'author.txt', see the 'How to Enter' page for details.
- Games must be submitted compiled (final EXE version) with all required media.
- You agree to make the game source code available to us for review should we request it.
- You are allowed to use your own or purchased plug-ins / DLLs.
- Any and all assets, artwork and materials must be the property of the author; use of proprietary third-party intellectual property including copyrighted or trademarked materials is prohibited, unless prior written permission can be supplied.
- Any contravention of IP, copyright or trademarks made by entries will be solely the responsibility of the entrant and liability will be limited to the entrant, not to the judging companies.

'Hardware Specific' Competition Rules
- All entries will be judged entirely at the discretion of the judges, made up solely of representatives of AGEIA, BFG and TGC and all decisions of these judges are final.
- All entries to this contest MUST use and promote AGEIA PhysX hardware; use of a PhysX card from BFG is encouraged but any AGEIA PhysX card may be used in development of entries
- Entries will be evaluated on a number of criteria, including:
- Breadth of use of hardware PhysX features incorporated, including (but not limited to) rigid-bodies, joints, cloth, particles and fluids within Dark Physics
- Depth of use of hardware PhysX features incorporated, including level and scale of interaction between features
- Gameplay physics interactions as well as effects physics
- Playability and novel use of physics in the game design and logic
- Creativity and 'fun' factor
- Clear differentiation between operation of game with PhysX hardware and without PhysX hardware present.
- Entries submitted to this Hardware PhysX Contest:
- May operate only when PhysX hardware is present
- May operate (differently or similarly) with or without PhysX hardware present
- Must utilize PhysX hardware if present
- Entries are subject to review and moderation by judges for appropriateness of content and positive use of the technologies and development tools provided
- All entries must be in the form of binary executables operable on judges' systems with AGEIA PhysX hardware and AGEIA PhysX drivers (available at drivers.ageia.com)
- Source-code to entries is not required and need not be submitted unless requested by judges
- Entries remain the property of their authors, but full and free (non-exclusive) distribution rights are granted in perpetuity to AGEIA, BFG and TGC (and their associated subsidiaries and partners)
- All accepted entries and their authors will be promoted on the AGEIA website for a minimum of 60 days beyond the end of the contest as proponents and supporters of BFG, AGEIA PhysX and TGC Dark Physics technologies
- Judging companies will remove any prohibited materials from display or promotion upon being informed of their use by property-rights holders and entry will be removed from consideration for prize awards
- Beyond PhysX card and Dark Physics tools, it is the sole responsibility of the entrant to obtain and maintain any other necessary hardware and software required to produce an entry
- AGEIA, BFG and TGC are not responsible for any damage or negative effect on entrant’s hardware or software systems that may occur in entering this contest or otherwise related to normal operation of the software and hardware provided.
- Entrants may submit entries at any time after first entry date of September 1st, 2006, and can update existing entries at any time until the final submission deadline of November 15th, 2006.
- Entrants may submit multiple entries, but may only win one of the top six prizes within the Hardware PhysX Contest, regardless of number of entries submitted.
- Entrants may submit entries to both the Hardware PhysX Contest and the Software PhysX Contest, but may only win one prize total for entries submitted into both contests. Entrants are encouraged to enter the Hardware PhysX Contest if selecting one or the other contest.
- Entrants may withdraw any of their entries from consideration in either contest up to the entry deadline of November 15th, 2006.
- Judging will be completed by November 30th, 2006 and prize-winners will be announced the following day (December 1st, 2006) via AGEIA’s website, in TGC monthly newsletter and optionally via other informational or promotional vehicles.
- Product prizes may not be exchanged for cash. Value is approximate based on current pricing of prize products, is informational only and subject to change.
- Prizes are valued in US-Dollars ($) and conversion into other currencies may adversely affect eventual prize-value to entrants and is at entrant’s expense.
- Judges reserve the right to replace specific products or prizes with others of equal or greater value if necessary.
- Prizes cannot be awarded to employees, agents, contractors or families of AGEIA Technologies, Inc, BFG Technologies, Inc. or The Game Creators Ltd.
'Software Specific' Competition Rules
- All entries will be judged entirely at the discretion of the judges, made up solely of representatives of AGEIA, BFG and TGC and all decisions of these judges are final.
- All entries must be developed within TGC’s Dark Physics development tool.
- Entries will be evaluated on a number of criteria, including:
